GRATITUDE, COMPLIMENT and CONGRATULATIONS

Gratitude

Gratitude is anexpression that we show or say to express grateful feeling to other people.
When speaking English, you say “thanks” very often. Please say “thank you” when people give you something and give you compliment, etc because that will be more polite.

Thanking :
• Thank you very much
• Thank you for your help
• I’m really very grateful to you
• You’re welcome
• Don’t mention it
• It’s a pleasure
• It’s my pleasure
• I want to express my gratitude to your family
• I am grateful to your help

Compliment

Compliment is an expression that we show or say to express/give praise.
Compliment is so useful because some people use compliment to “butter up” somebody or to flatter in order to increase good will.

Kind of compliment expressions are :
• What a nice dress!
• You look great
• I really must express my admiration for you dance
• Excellent
• Nice work
• Good jod

Congratulation

Congratulation is an expression that we use the congratulation utterance when someone succeeds in doing something.

Kinds of Congratulation are :
• Congratulation
• Congratulation on your succeeds
• Happy Birthday
• Merry Christmas
• Happy New Year
• Happy Valentine
• Happy Anniversary

Past Tense


Simple Past Tense is a sentence that states an act or event in the past in the simplr form.

Rumus :
(+) S+verb2
( - )S+did+not+verb2
(?)Did+subject+verb1?

The example of adverb of time :
- Two days ago
- Last day
- Last night
- Last weeklast month
- Last year
- Eartier
- Before
- Just now
- Yesterday

Example :
(+) I saw a good film last night
( - ) You didn’t see a good film last night
(?) Did you see a good film last night?

Untuk menyatakan kebiasaan yang kita lakukan pada waktu lampau dan sekarang tidak dilakukan lagi.


The example of adverb of time :
- Every morning
- Every day
- Every Friday
- Every week
- Every month
- Every oktober
- Always
- Often
- Sometimes
- Usually
- Seldom
- Never

Example :
(+) We read the newspaper every morning
( - ) I didn’t go to the zoo with my family every week
(?) Did you meet your classmate every Sunday?

Past Continous Tense is a sentence stating an activity or action that is happening but in the past.

Rumus :
(+) S+was/were+V-ing
( - ) S+was/were+not+V-ing
(?) Was/were+S+V-ing

Example :
(+) You were swimming last Sunday
( - ) They weren’t swimming yesterday
(?) Was Annisa swimming at 7 o’clock morning?



Untuk menyatakan sebuah peristiwa yang sudah mulai terjadi ketika peristiwa lainnya terjadi. Untuk menyatakan ini umumnya Past Continous Tense digabungkan dengan Simple Past Tense.

Rumus :
- Past continous tense + when + simple past tense. Example : His sister was writing a letter when he watched TV.
- Past continous tense + while + past continous tense. Example : I was listening music while my mother cooking soup.
- Simple past tense + while + past continous tense. Example : He wrote a letter as he was watching TV.

Giving Instructions


Giving Instruction is an expression for give or ask somebody to do something that we want.

Giving instruction statment can use :
1. When people ask unkwon address.
2. When demonstrate a recipe of food or drink.
3. When ask somebody to do something that we want.

1. Please or don't + verb + noun
[Noun + Verb + Please]
Example :
- Please open the door.
- Open the door, please.
- Don't open the door.
2. Please or don't + verb + adverb of place
[Verb + adverb of place + Please]
Example :
- Please come here.
- Come here, please.
- Don't come here.

3. Please or don't + Verb + noun + adverb of place
Example :
- Please open the door in this class.
- Don't open the door in this class.

4. Be + Adj + Please: “Be quiet, please”
Please + Be + Adj: “Please, be quite”
Don't + Be + Adj: “Don't be quite”

5. Be + Adj: Be strong.

Respon on giving instruction :
- Yes.
- O.K.
- No i can't.
- No problem.

Narrative Text


Narrative text is a text which contains about story: fiction, non fiction, tales, folktakes, fables, myths, epic.
And in it's plot consists of the story (complication) then followed by the resolution.

Generic structure :
- Orientation.
- Complication.
- Evaluation (optional).
- Resolution.

- Orientation : it's about WHO, WHEN, and WHERE the story happened.
- Evaluation : Is optional, it's usually used to make the story.

- Complication : Is the part of the story in which there's a conflict among the characters of the story (it's possible to make more than one conflict, in a complication), and it's the climax of the story (the big problem in the story). A story can here more than one complication.

- Resolution : it's the solution of the problem. It can be a happy or sad ending. In resolution, the solution or the way out of the conflict or the big problem must be written.

Happiness Expression


Expressing happiness is that we show when we are happy or glad.

We can expressing happiness with :

¤ Gesture.
Kind of expressing happiness :

¤ I'm statisfied with ……
¤ I'm pleased with ……
¤ Congratulation.
¤ I'm very happy because ……
¤ Well down.
¤ That's fantastic !

¤ That's wonderfull !

¤ I'm happy to hear that.

Announcements


"Making Written Announcements"

Announcement is something said, written or printed to make knowwhat has happanet or (more of ten) what will happen
In writing an announcement, keep the following points : the title / type of event, date/time, place and contact person.
The kind of announcement text are to write and to tongue.
